Hello to all. I will be traveling to Omaha for a couple of weeks and need to buy a starter kit for my 1HZ (according to my dealer, part #28140-77090). My engine still clicks sometimes when I try to start it and you all have told me it is the brushes I need to change. My dealer sells it to me for $70. Can I find it cheaper in Omaha? or through mail order? Your help will be highly appreciated.

By the way! Seasons greetings to all and Happy new year!

Serge

Ha.. I didn't think you'd be able to get and HZ part here. BUT, it seems to cross over. I'd have them order it before you get there (cause my guess is no dealer in NE is going to have this part in stock... almost guaranteed) or get if from cruiser dan and have him ship it to where you are staying....

No real deal compared to your dealer unless CD can hook you up.

From what I have heard from Sheldon at G&S is that you could order one from Ens in Canada. Muy Caro! $600+ Cnd Buy it from your dealer there. The 1HZ is not available in North America except in a Canadan Mine truck, or ordered from Oz or Japan. Good luck on your travels. Take lots of pics and post them.
Thanks,
Michael

BTW, those two models that Wes listed (Camry and Toy truck) may be good donors for a starter motor for the 1HZ. I have a Camry diesel starter on order and will report back how the motor will fit a 1HDT starter.

I tried a 22RE starter on someone else's recommendation on this board and it was nowhere close. The motor was only three quarters the size of the 1HDT starter motor.

The 1HD-T starter is a big thing, though I never noticed until Drexx comented on it. I have two spares sitting around both in good working condition. Unfortunately, I'm a long ways from Omaha and also very far from Costa Rica.

Isn't the starter of the 1HZ smaller than the 1HD-T ?

No, they're identical. I have both sitting here (not for sale, this is not a :grinpimp: post)

Interesting. If they're the same starter, I might be able to find a way to start my LC with just 12 volts.

Are you absolutely certain they're identical ? I know they're interchangeable as Drexx tried to use one of mine, but he has a 12 volt starter and mine is apparently 24 regardless that it can crank at 12. If I feed it 12 volts it cranks too slowly to start my engine, and apparently also the 1HZ deisel of Drexx.

Hahahahaha. You really want me to run out to my garage in the pouring rain to prove it, don't you? :D

Yes, 12V 1HZ starters are identical to 12V 1HDT starters. My 24V starter is in storage, I think size wise and the mounting pattern is identical to the 12V version.
