I'm flying into Seattle on Wednesday the 23. I have all day the 24th to kill and was thinking about renting a car and heading north to Canada. Does anybody have any advice on where to go and what to do keeping in mind I'll only have one whole day? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Mat

Well its about 2.5 to 3 hours to Vancouver BC (not to be confused with that imposter Vancouver WA) from Seattle, so depending what time you flew in, there lots to do.
Feel like skiing? Canada is always covered in a blanket of snow :) so you could drive up to Whistler/Blackcomb as the glacier is open pretty much year round I do believe.
Or wander around downtown Vancouver (power should be back on by the 24th I'd hope), meander in to Stanley Park and enjoy its windswept vistas, perhaps even the C's are playing a game and you could catcha nooner at the 'Nat.

Hi, it's Mud_Guppie here logged on as trooper+ by mistake.
Seattle to here and back again is going to take most of a day with pee, gas breaks and some traffic/rush hour
lot to see if you can make it up

off topic here a bit but, how much trimming to make the 39.5's fit?
I'm about to put on 39"pitbulls on my 1988 FJ62 and need to do some trimming first

Thanks for the info. I've never been skiing or snowboarding, I think I'm gonna go to Whistler/Blackcomb.

To get it to stuff all the way without rubbing I had to trim quite a bit in the front. But my leafs are pretty flat so you may be able to get away with less. If you want some pics let me know

*Never* been? Hmm, you might want to go for your first time on a winter day when the snow is soft and powdery (in the summer it can get kinda hard and icy). Either that or strap a really large cushion to your ass. And your elbows. And your head :)

That said, it is beautiful up there in the summer. Worth it for the view alone.

I think you would be better off with the Quick Shuttle so you don't have to wait at the border. Quick Shuttle: Vancouver Seattle Schedule.
There is lots to see in Vancouver. Stanley Park, Grouse Mountain, Vancouver Aquarium, Granville Island, etc...and if any of the club are free that day they could take you up Eagle Mountain. Have fun.

The Aquarium is pretty cool. I havent been for a couple years now.

Thanks for all the advice. I arrive in Seattle at 9:30pm Wednesday so I think I'll miss the last shuttle. I'm going to see if any rental car companies will let me drop a car off in Canada then I'll take the shuttle back Friday (one of the shuttle's stops is right where I need to be.
Most likely I'll spend my time in the Vancouver area and save the snowboarding for another time as recommended by jcolvin. Plus that saves me like 4 hours of driving time.
I was able to find info on all the spots Vanny recommend except Eagle Mountain. What's that like?

Eagle mountain is an undeveloped park area above Coquitlam. There is no snow there at this time of year and 4-wheelers like the rugged terrain. There are hikers and bikers but I think for your short time in this area, you'd be better to go to the other areas unless one of the Coastal Cruisers took you in there in his/her rig.

did you make it up here?
