Battery went out last night and had to pull the trigger on a Autozone Duralast platnium gel 800 CCA for $195. The fit was alittle tight but OK. 3 year warranty. They told me to bring it back for refund if not happy.....anybody had any experience with this battery good or bad?

Thanks

I know I'm going for the Diehard PM-1 when my battery dies, or shows signs of weakness. It isn't much more expensive than the duralast, but is well known to be an excellent battery. Same as the Odyssey I believe.

in a pinch bought the same battery about 6 years ago for a one ton, that truck went away and the battery then went in a jeep and is now in a dump trailer still going strong! Was money well spent for me.

Good to know Elk Hunt. Thanks

Zer0 I had planned to do the same but had to get something that night. Guess i will stick it out with this and see how it goes.

I may have red tops and yellow tops in my 100's but I have Duralasts from Autozone in all of my work trucks and have never had an issue. Had a Duralast Gold die a year short of its warranty but most likely due to the fact that the vehicle it was on had emergency strobes that were xenon (pre led) and they would cycle the battery or kill it more often than the battery should have had to endure. Took it in to Autozone and they prorated the remaining time as a credit on a new one.

In the heat, batteries are a "consumable", to be changed every couple of years. Don't sweat it. I now try to buy the Costco ones, not because they last longer, or are more "available", just that their warranty/return policy rocks.

good luck...not impressed at all by the PM1, 2 years dead. Odyssey in 100 getting close to 10 years....and its still going.

from now on, its a real Odyssey or a Kirkland

I just picked up a 27F battery from Advancedautoparts for $88 with tax after online instant rebates. $118 online, but there are coupons that knocked it down to $88. I'm good for another 4 yrs. I've used Costco Kirklands in the past with my FZJ80's and although smaller in dimension and CCA's, I've never had any issues.
