Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any experience importing a vehicle from Japan anywhere in Europe ? I have found quite a few vehicles there that I'm interested in (60 Series Land Cruisers) and I was wondering if anyone could give me some guidance given the language barrier. I did exported a vehicle from United States to Europe but I had an agent there that handled all the paperwork needed.

Regards,

Francesco

Same story again mate, get an agent there should be plenty around.
It's possible someone will chime in who knows someone or has imported one but your best better is to start researching reputable agents in your area.

Thanks for your reply. The thing is that my work schedule does not allow me to travel there and look for one and maybe sort the things out on the spot.

I don't know, are there any large companies in Japan that I should know about and I can work with to handle the export process ? Similar to Copart for example in USA ? Google Japan doesn't help me much either and most of the other websites that had some info are now parked domains or simply redirect me to sketchy websites that do keyword spam ...

Yeah I don't think it's going to be particularly easy.
In Australia we import a fair amount of cars from japan and we have plenty of agents who will do everything for you, I've even been involved with the buying of vehicles at Japanese auctions but we had a Japanese agent on site in japan viewing the thousands of cars on the many levels of parkings on the many 100's of screens with multiple auctions running at the same time.
It's a brutal market and you really need someone who has contacts in japan and ties to your local city, I don't know of many agents who will deal with one off vehicle purchases either.

I'm not saying it's impossible it will just be a bit of a battle.
