Hey new to the forum but have been doing a lot of reading around here. I've been looking around for a 70 series for a while. I've found a 1987 bj73 in Spain and have been emailing back and forth with the owner who seems like a decent guy. He's sent me a lot of pictures and a few videos and everything seems good.

I'm trying to get some advice on 1) how to go about having the truck checked out by somebody and 2) any help on where I should begin with the importing process. Anybody have any recommendations, advice or tips? He has pretty much sent me pictures of every angle of the truck and sent me a picture of what he said was the only rust spot but again I'm new at this and just wanting to see what others have done.

On the main Forums page, under General Tech, there's a section named Importing. I'd check/post there.

Also ask around in the Clubhouses area found at the top of the page. Ask the European Land Cruisers Club if anyone is in Spain.

Alright thanks I will try posting in the importing section, although I did look around there first, it just doesn't seem very active in that section. I have not looked through the clubhouses area so I will look through that as well. If anyone else has any info/ideas feel free to jump in.

Chrisspaulding on 'MUD may be able to shed some light on importing from that region.

Eric,
I suggested that you hire a Customs Broker to manage the shipping and importation of the truck. I also recommended that you having a "pre-purchase" inspection performed by a garage that specializes in Toyotas. I also suggested that you ask the seller about the garage he uses (because they "know" the truck) or other garages in his area. I told you this is what I do as part of inspection, purchasing and importation process.

What I was not willing to do was to take on the risk/liability of having your truck(s) "checked out" or manage the shipping/importation process of your truck.

Its all good man thanks. Wasn't trying to offend anyone, I was just asking for advice and any help from someone who has done this before and a second opinion on a truck that I'm looking at. Anyway I'll keep at it and post back with any updates.
