I'm sorry but I have to ask about my MPG

Unless I missed it, I didn't see any mention of the actual brand/type of fuel being used. I only mention it because my brother and I now both have 100s and always use Chevron unless it is an emergency since its through a business.

I check mileage religiously and I get around 11-12 hwy at 75-80mph avg interstate corrected speed. Only 2 times have I experienced a very noticeable difference in mileage. Once heading to Atlanta at a Talledega Chevron that was serving ethanol-free gas and once at a Shell station w/ethanol in Pigeon Forge, TN got all the way back to Birmingham. Both times I got close to 100 miles more range than usual.

Now my brother has done the same with his '01 and filled up at an Exxon instead of the Chevron norm (I know, Chevron is suppose to good) and he got similar results over the Chevron.

Not necessarily scientific but he also has a new LX and filled up at the same Exxon pulling a 6000lb+ 26' boat. Still got around 10-11. I'm not sure if it was a fluke since after researching I can't find any real comparisons saying shell or exxon have better range or less ethanol but somethings going on I think.

If I get down to that Exxon on the MS gulf coast I'll do some testing between there and Tuscaloosa and post if there is a difference.

I'm running and Mobil1 Synethic 0w20 engine oil. Also have a K&N drop in filter, same tires as you. Not sure if any of that actually helped mpg but I get 15-18 on the highway, 14-15 mixed, 11-14 city.
Unless i missed the bulletin, the 2UZ is not spec'd for 20weight oil.
Sacrificing engine protection for a mpg improvement is not a wise trade off.

air filter;)

I just changed the air filters on both cruisers...tons more power, and I suspect much better mpg.
