Thought I would start a thread about gross overcharging for services.
I realize they have brick and mortar shops to support, but DAMN, I'm tired of seeing bills for at least 4x what they should be.
After reading Rusty's antifreeze thread, it reminded me of something I saw at work the other day. A local stealership charged us $3600 to fix two electrical connections, replace an a/c compressor and do a rear wheel seal on a big truck we have.
The breakdown for the rear seal was $648.00, of that they charged $80 for the seal, which is at least double what they paid for it. This is not a press on bearing or any such thing. It's probably a Dana 100 series axle, or Rockwell of some sort, since it's a 1.5 ton chassis.
I'm no expert, but I've changed my fair share of wheel seals and I'll be damned if I ever had the gall to charge 6 bills to change a seal.
