As we discussed at the meeting, I looked into trails between Hemet and Idylwild. I have heard of a challenging trail there as well as another one a little closer near Veil Lake. I have not found any info so far on these. Bee Canyon from Hemet to Pine Cove/Idylwild is too easy. This is one that my friend Phil took his Porsche 944 on. As far as I can see, we will have to do plan B which is Sawmill Trail/Toro Peak unless someone can suggest another fairly close trail that gets us up out of the desert. I got a pass to go Saturday so I will meet you all at the 76/15 park-n-ride at 8am.

Sawmill

Crusher, did you do Sawmill after all earlier this month? A buddy and I are planning on doing it but there are virtually no accounts online since 2010. We're going in September (next month) when it's still warm enough to camp out on the mountain. We were expecting to have to winch some trees but maybe you already did the hard work for us! Thanks in advance for giving us a trail report. Tom

We had a group of 4 and behind us was a group from So Cal 4 wheelers which included a Land Rover Defender, pretty stock with open diffs. No trouble with the trail... my 60 vapor locked a few times but I learned to cool it down and go on. There were more trees down than last year but there were trails around all of them. We had a great time and got a lightening show and rain while coming down which was perfect for dust control and cooling everything down.

You should have a great time. Maybe bring a chainsaw! Pic is from a few years ago.
