Hello guys. I don’t go on here much. I was hoping someone could help me. I went to clean the IAC valve, and took the top screw out with no issue, but noticed someone had already messed the lower Phillips (+screw) has been chewed up a bit. Does anyone have a trick to removing this? Anything will help. This seems to be a very akward spot for that screw. Thank you.

Looks like someone used a #1 Phillips and damaged it. I would use an 18-20” long screwdriver with a fresh #2 bit for something like that. You can get a much better bite with the extra length since you can add pressure. Not everyone would have a screwdriver like that, I made mine. You can do the same thing w a bit holder and a couple extensions on a 1/4” ratchet. Make sure the bit has a bite into the screw, add pressure and turn it very slow and the screw should “snap” loose. You might even lightly tap the end of the extension w a hammer to drive the bit into the screw before you attach the ratchet. Go in right next to the hose at the same angle the camera view is.

If you pull the throttle body off you can get them with pliers. Had to do that many times

Or if you have a dremel tool you can cut it and make it for a flat screwdriver but I would try the vise grip way 1st
