Was browsing HF and came across this:

3/8 In. Drive Professional Ratchet, Genuine 24 Karat Gold Plated

had a 10% and figured why not. Looks cool, feels good. I was telling my cousin who said he got one from craftsman years ago. Thoughts on this?

Gold is a soft metal.

no question it is not intended for the heavy or mild use. This would make either a good gift, funny thing to talk about or actually use it but on something light, like that small extra turn on spark plugs or removing easy access bolts.

Personally, I'd have to accept that I would never use them, just look at them. That's a bit of a shortcoming for a tool.

(I wonder if that was the case with Saddam's son (IIRC) Golden (hopefully plated) AK as well...)

while it is a bit of a joke, these ratchets are now approaching the 120-150 range on secondary markets. I wonder what it will look like as the holidays loom.
