Well, I called and emailed the Iowa Food Bank and got, well, no response. So, I didn't give up, I found a website called VolunteerMatch.com and found a couple of great opportunities doing some work at Big Creek State Park cleaning up some bike trails and sanding/painting/replacing boards on picanick tables booboo!

I'm waiting to hear back from the other clubs as to their availability and we'll pick some dates and go from there. I'd really like to see our club have great representation for this.

I'll post more details as they are worked out.

Do you know of any specific areas at Big Creek? Alison and I are planning on camping there tomorrow night and I could scope things out if I knew where to look.

Kim, the park director/ranger, told me that it was the bike trail. I haven't ever been on the bike trail up there, so I'm not sure. From the sounds of it, there are a bunch of trees along the trail that need to be trimmed back. The picanick tables are all over the park, so he was going to go get the ones that needed work and bring them to a central location for us to work on. He said that he needed about a week of lead time before we came up so he could get supplies and everything together for us.

We have a date, September 13th at NOON. I hope to see as many of us as we can up at Big Creek painting tables. More details and a map to come.

I will put it on my calendar. Hopefully I can drag along Randy & our boys to help, too.

That would be great. I'm hoping to see at least 5-6 of the 20+ members show up for this. The folks from the other clubs in the association are a great bunch of people!

I'll be busy unfortunately - Iowa/Iowa State game.

I should be able to make it, Art. I'll see if I can get Lance to come along, too. Not sure what his schedule looks like that weekend. Please do post up a map, since I have no idea where that is. Thanks!

I will be there!............not really.

Wish you guys could be there! Lance got a Tundra this weekend, so now we can tow the 40. That means that he'll have to finish it and then we can come down and go to Disney with you guys!!! :D

Yes you (or you guys) need to come down for sure (or anybody else that would like to come down to wheel or visit). You would love it down here. Especially in the fall. Here is a couple pictures of Bella Vista Valley in the Fall 2 minutes from my house. I drive through the valley ever day going to work. When it rains, there are about 20 waterfalls that line hwy 71 coming off the cliffs. Not a bad drive to work ;) Sure beats driving down Fleur Drive. :D We can do some cave exploring too and maybe a little hiking at Devil's Den State Park. If you like nature, come to Arkansas (The Natural State)!

Nice work! Crew cab or regular cab? Lance...get to work buddy! It doesn't have to be pretty, it just needs to run! Just ask Tony! :D

Seriously, stop with the Arkansas pics...it makes me want to buy the lot next to yours!!! :D BTW, are there any lots in your cul-de-sac still available? And PM me who I need to talk to about buying one.

PM sent. New thread coming soon!

No kidding - pretty rigs are nice, but it doesn't make wheeling any more fun. One could argue that beauty makes wheeling less fun for fear of damage.

Okay, so as of right now, we have by my count, 4 of us going? Anyone else? I'm still working on getting a map.

We are all set, this is the reply I received from Kim this morning.

You can meet at the park office (back by the (upper) Big Cr. Spillway
). We have some tables around the office and shop area ready for
painting and/or board replacement. Bring socket and ratchet sets. We
will have sandpaper, 2-3 sanders, paint and paint brushes. If you
want to bring some rags for cleaning and gloves, you can. We have
safety goggles, dust masks and ear plugs if you need them.

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Here's a map.

I believe the park office (according to the legend) is on the lower
right quadrant of the map.

Thanks all!

Cancelled due to rain

I just got a call from Kim Olofson, the Park Director and the picanick
tables are too wet to work on, we'll have to find another weekend.

I'll let you know more once I find out when we are going to reschedule for.

Thanks!

Anyone that's still interested, the IA4WDC meeting will be at Hy-Vee in WDM (Railroad and Grand) at 10 AM. I believe we are discussing our goals for the upcoming year.
