I think the 4runner may have been struck by lightning.

At 3 am this morning (sounded like a bomb was dropped on the house). The wife called me at work and said the first thing she noticed when she opened the front door was the runner's headlights were on. Then she discovered both drivers side windows were down, the doors were locked, and when she went to open the drivers door, the alarm went off. She reset the alarm, started it and got the lights turned off. 15 minutes later the lights came on again which has been going on all day.

I just got home, and disconnected the battery to reset. Anyone heard of this?

Also 100% certain the windows were up, and the doors were unlocked.

For reference, we received over 2" of moisture last night.
After checking things out, I think the door locks and the headlights are a secondary issue after the windows were wide open. The multi function switch and door switches had moisture in them. I would have noticed the headlights when I left for work at 4am, that would explain why the battery wasn't dead when Genell found them on at 5, they shorted after I left.

That leaves the question of the windows, if a surge could open them.

(Bet you all are questioning our sanity about now)...

I had a 97 4Runner that would do similar things minus the Windows down.
I found the factory alarm box under the drivers seat would get moist inside and cause it. Got rid of it and never did it again.

wow that's just weird, cant see any other explaination?

Who you gonna call?
