Also good to know that when we bust our rig in the desert there will be a trusted shop nearby. :D

Also feels good to support a local, family run business rather than a large chain that does not care about the individual customer.

Could not agree more.

On that note... anybody know of a local "test only" or "golden shield repair" smog station??
I'm always leary of those shops, and I can only go to one of these for a smog check.

You wanna know how bad my previous employer is???

They have refused to pay us for our last three weeks until we give them some files we were working on. We tried to turn them over last Thursday, but they were "Unavailable". Their option was to meet with them first thing Friday morning to "make the exchange".

We could not do this as we had another engagement in Indio the following morning. The reply was "Your choice. We thought your paychecks were more important to you". <- I'm not kidding. True statement.

We got back into town last night and tried to make arrangements today to turn over the files, and again they are "unavailable. Meet us tomorrow morning". Again, my wife and I must be in Indio tomorrow am.

We are going to drop off what they require from us today anyway. They can sort it out. Hopefully they will mail us our $$$ ASAP.

What gets me, is right out of the gates they think we were not going to give them our work. This was never our intention, nor do we even have a need for the stupid files to begin with. There would be no benefit for us to keep the work. It's insulting.

Thanks for all of the kind words guys.

Scott and Eric,

I'll my wife get you the info you requested ASAP. Check PM's.

You can also check out www.rmbixlerhomesolutions.com for more info.

Man that really sucks Reid. That must feel unbelievable to have someone you and your wife have given years of your life and effort to treat you that way. Good riddance. Maybe we should all boycott them. Not sure if that applies but it would be cool to stick it to them. :hillbilly:

File a complaint with the EDD. If they are an ongoing business, they owe you your pay.

Reid - Under California law you are supposed to be paid immediately upon leaving a job, that means the same day. You are entitled to a waiting time penalty equal to a days pay for each day you have not received your final paycheck.

Waiting time penalty

This is the website that gives you the details. California takes this very seriously.

Either, A) they're scared so they're acting like idiots, or more likely B) they're projecting how THEY would behave onto you (i.e. not returning documents, being a pain in the ass, etc). People can be so petty sometimes, like grown children who need a good whoopin.

I know everyone is very litigation happy these days, but 3 weeks pay x2 would be enough for me to get an attorney involved. At least to send a friendly letter.

Hope it all works out for the best

Still no pay.

We've contacted an attorney and we're now also going after unpaid OT.

It's been difficult to get by, but in the end, it'll work out for us.

Family of 5 + no income = :frown:

Fortunately, we have some leads on some work (until we get the shop up and running).

man, that took balls... good for you!

That sucks they are still screwing you and you both don't even work there anymore! I know it is easier said than done but stick to you guns and get yours. Good luck.
