Not exactly. one is a LX470. I decided this summer to see what its like owning 2 trucks with 450k combined miles on them. I bought an 01 in August, and liked so much I replaced my wife's sienna minivan with an 07 LX470. My intent is to run both trucks as long as possible and post my adventures...
First, the LX. 2 owner truck, all NC all its life. truck has complete service history from Lexus. bought it from a dealer here in NC... before purchase, dealer did timing belt, replaced the axle seal, etc etc...
claybar and waxed her this weekend. Also loved on the LC.
on to the exciting stuff... 2 weeks after purchase, I get a fun code of p0158. downstream bank 2 o2 sensor. I roll to auto zone and pick up a new denso. get her swapped out and move on with my life. 3 days later, the light comes back on. I do the drive slow drive fast, idle 1 minute, blah blah, blah... light doesn't go off. So I read another post saying I should possibly look at spark plugs and thermostat. Roll to auto zone and pick up 8 new denso plugs and a plug wrench, and go to town.
plugs start coming out... the look pretty good. then I get to this...
second plug was loose! look at the coil. All kinds of dust/soot on it
got 6 of 8 plugs done. lost 2 of the coil gaskets down into the engine bay. found 1, lost the other. Off to auto zone to get a gasket. ended up buying a damn coil so I could use the gasket and get my truck back together. FML. while knocking around the engine, I see this.
its behind the housing for the thermostat. Sigh. Any idea what part is leaking?
Looks like the leak is fairly new and since its the LX, I'll bet it's related to the recent T-belt work. Maybe the dealer that did that work would fix it under repair warranty?
leak is brand freaking new. dealer is a used car dealer, but we are "friends". biggest issue would be dropping it off with him for 2 days to get it fixed.
Thermostat housing is leaking. Probably didn't get the surface clean or use enough FIPG on reinstall. No bigggie really. Easy fix. Grab a tube of permatex black and do it yourself in probably an hour start to finish. Just make sure to let the permatex set for a few hours before use.
