Hey fellas. My booster went out a while back. I have not been driving my 80 for a while. I have a booster ready to go.

I tried to get the booster out, but I was having some difficulty. I need an extra pair of hands and any body with the prior experience. Brake lines have been pulled back.

I will try again on Sunday to see if I'm successful. If you have any time this Sunday to help me out that would be awesome. Tacos and beers will be provided.

I have all Thanksgiving week off as well if that works mo' betta for some of you.

Thanks fellas.

Guessing you are not in the valley :(

For me, once I moved the ABS lines out of the way, by removing them from the ABS unit, it was cake. If it's the 91 you are working on then that doesn't apply.

Haven't had to replace my booster, however I've had my fair share of wrenching on lots of toyotas:hillbilly: I may be available to come by on Sunady. I think I recall reading you having the FSM... correct? I've one for my 94 and am not sure if there are an differences in the braking system. Sending you a pm.

Im working on the '96. Joey I had posted in the 80s tech and noticed you had mentioned removing the lines. It's not the lines that are an issue. It's more like the orientation to maneuver around the manifold. To make this more difficult the plate inside the cabin near the pedals slightly slides down. When I try to put the booster back into its original position the bolts protruding from the booster, plate, and holes don't line up.

I was doing this a while back when we were having those gnarly heat waves and it sucked. I was drenched with sweat at 730 am.

Thanks @FJRanger, Nathan, for pm.

Big big thanks to Nathan, FJRanger, for cruising over and being the extra pair of eyes and hands needed to swap this booster out.

The lifting of the sagging plate inside the cabin near the pedal was key.

Also, the booster needs to come out and be rotated counter clockwise to clear the manifold.

And the edging of the booster near manifold.

Nathan suggested unhooking the master cylinder that was attached to the throttle cable. Unhooked it from the cable and it allowed for the master cylinder and brake lines to be moved back a bit more.

We cleared all lines and it came out.

Now to put everything back together again.
