alright. i can get a good condition low mileage fj62 for 500$ A fzj or fj 80 good condition high mileage possibly blown motor for 800$. I have a sas tacoma nobody wants. I want to end up with smooth off and on road worthy automatic fj40 with 35s

options
anything other than toyota is not an option. most efficient as in time better spent is also a goal.

a- buy the 80 and take frame with axles links etc.. shorten to a reasonable stretch for a fj40.(due to driveline length issues) Take motor trans and transfer from the 62. And find 40 body worthy of project.

b- buy the 62 and use complete drivetrain, leafs and all for reasonable stretch fj40 (due to driveline length issues) and spring over. And find 40.

c- use my 3.4 v6 auto combo get marlin adapter for early mini truck case to put pass drop in front, and crooked rear shaft or mini truck rear. put into 40. see how diveline length will work out.

thanks in advance for all input. links to similar projects also well appreciated. I tried searchin. -ben-

C would be my choice.

some times i feel like i don't have enough power out of a fresh 350 chev and a sm 420 .

i couldn't imagine the 3.4L

i vote a . or b .

link suspension is the s*** . does the 80 have e-lockers?

3.4 has more snot than the fj62 motor for sure. dont know if it has lockers. if it does that would be a no brainer. getting sick of leafs and needing torque bar panhard bar etc anyway. might as well be linked.
