Dam 5000 battery blew up in my rock crawler blowing the paint off my FJ40 body....

I am not sure what happened , we only had it a week and run it only 4 or 5 times. I am lucky the truck still runs...

send a pic of that to the retailer and/or duratrax and see if they will replace it. looks like at least one cell went bad, and blew out the back end of the pack, due to a bit too much current demand from your speed controller. If youre going to use nimh batteries, try to find a maker that uses sanyo cells. radicalrc uses sanyos, and they are vastly superior to the duratrax cells.

You can look up the model of your speed controller and verify that its nimh/nicad compatible, and if theres a special setting for that vs lipo/life. Also, make sure that its set up properly if using a brushed vs brushless motor.
