I've got an 07' Taco with the Sport Package, which includes a (Hood Scoop). Don't tell any body, maybe it was sonething left over, or left out of my high school years. But I was wondering if anyone has made their hood scoop functional. Just to let more air in, not as in cowl/ram air, as I live in Cen Cali, and the summers do get toasty. Don't know if it will make a difference or not.

I've heard of some 3rd gen 4Runner guys leaving the guts out of the scooped hoods to see if it makes a difference. The majority said it doesn't. Plus, it just lets more dirt and debris fly into the engine compartment. And they also said it created more noise by having wind fly up towards the windshield.

I have thought about a cowl induction hood though...never seen one offereed aftermarket. May get a bug up my a** one day and try to fab one up from a donor hood.

Thanks Miller, I was just thinking of more air flow/cooling, and did not consider the dirt issue. Had a co-worker compleatley dismantel his hood scoop guts, and could'nt get it back together after opening it up. Additionally, he said that the small screen in front of the opening would not go back into place, and he had to purchase some special screws-or-clips from the dealer to finally get it back together.
Guess I'm stuck with the "Look" and not the function.
