Unfortunately things change in life and I may be forced to sell my truck. I don't really want to but sometimes you do what you need to. It's a 1992 HZJ 77 H55 with 250k Recent work done includes timing belt, water pump, starter, recored rad, 2 new interstate batteries, and new exedy hd Clutch. Always had synthetic oil and toyota filters , I've always maintained it as if I was keeping it for good. Arb bumper snorkel Zeal 3" lift converted to run on veggie oil with separate 130L stainless tank, also have ARB lockers for the truck, need to be installed. Also turboed with intercooler and egt and pyro gauges. Has minor damage from an accident which I need to get repaired. About $1500 damage, I was going to get the whole truck repainted as a friend owns a body shop and he fixing the damage anyways. I know the market isn't as good as it once was but any advice on price would be great. I don't want to sell but I also don't want to give it away. I'm not in a hurry and won't put it up untill it's painted . Just trying to ease into the fact that I have to sell

This thread is pure torture for Cruiserheads in the U.S. :)
Are you repainting it in the original colors or changing it up a bit?

I hope I live long enough to legally import one of those jewels. :)
I guess I better start exercising, eating better and give up drinking. :D

I do hope you're not suffering from insomnia for getting that imported.:D:hillbilly:

No worries there ......
I usually just drink myself into a stupor while looking at Cruisers like this one on
MUD. :D

I would guess a mint hzj77 H55 with factory lockers and 60-110k fresh off the boat in Vancouver would be 28-32k. It's just my guess remember!

So to me I would put your truck as it sits without really knowing besides your word on the collision damage at 15k (If you were to give it away) to 23k (again just guessing)

It's an awesome truck man! It just has 250k , and has been in an accident. Not trying to nit pick but saying it like it is. I realize an HZ is a very stout engine but being very conservative it may need a rebuild at 500k.

What's kicking around on kijiji all over Canada? That is where I would be looking for an idea to price it at. You can only get what the market will bear, which is different from province to province.

I agree with the market being different from Provence to Provence. As far as the damage it's $1500 not 15k. I'm leaning towards a price around $17000. But I have to fix it first

Don't take my word as gospel but here. I have also never seen the sellers truck other than on the internet.

Lets put it this way to put the HZJ77 thing into perspective that I don't think a lot of people understand how a JDM auction really works.

When you have something rare that is hard to find with specific things like say good condition, 5 speed, low kms. On these units they are very very hard to find. When something like this comes up there are people waiting and looking for them. It becomes a bidding WAR, prices are definitely inflated from normal prices. and they sell for a lot more than people expect. It was even worse that try adding lockers into the mix.

To put this into perspective a little bit. An unlocked 5 speed HZJ77 with 104,000kms, stock base model 4B grade came up last month and didn't even sell at just over $14,000.
An alright grade 3.5 that may not even be locked, look stock with at a minimum 150,000kms sell for 11-12k. Those are even very hard to find. Now factor in your agents fee $1000, shipping, taxes, duty, port fees, customs fees, maintenance, inspection. The price sky rockets. You may get a well mechanically looked after truck or get just a regular old neglected vehicle and run into a very expensive bill for already what is an enthusiasts vehicle.

People are waiting for them as they can take a long time for them to come up. Crushers waited two years for one to come up, I was lucky enough to find one in 6 months. Let me tell you, you'll PAY for a nice one over seas and that isn't including anything that needs to be done to get it here or mechanically sound.

So factor in a HZJ77 that is fully built and the amount of stuff and maintenance assuming the thing is fully tuned up and ready to go I think the sellers asking price is very fair.

The ****ty thing right now is that the market has completely dropped off for cruisers unless you have something rare. That will play to this vehicle's advantage, not to mention the bonus accessories. Who ever buys it should be happy if the repairs are just cosmetic and are fixed properly. I think they would be getting a good truck for their money assuming it is rust free and looked after.:meh:

Why don't you give a potential buyer the option to repair the damage themselves and perhaps save money while saving you the time involved in making the arrangements. This option would also give the new owner the opportunity to change the paint scheme if they desired.
Just a thought.....

Sorry, bad punctuation on my part. I didn't mean to say 15k of damage. I just intended 15k as a ridiculously low price if you need to sell the truck like yesterday.

I completely agree.

Prairiecrusier1 just asked for an idea on how much to ask for his truck and hasn't posted an asking price when I posted.

$17 000 IMO just from what I know about the truck seem to be a pretty darn good deal, considering the rarity.
