There is a socket just next to the ashtray.

For now my 79 is still a workhorse, after two years it will be retired and I will turn it to a mall cruiser. Hahaha

The newest ones in Aus have two sockets now , one near the ash tray and one on the cup holder.

Landcruisers for Indonesia!

Hi Guys,

I currently live in Namibia, southern Africa and plan to relocate to Indonesia in the course of this year for professional reasons. I have spent the last 4 years getting my 1983 Land Cruiser FJ60 ready for overlanding.

I have travelled a lot in southern Africa and did a lot of camping. Now with the relocation to Indonesia, I want to do the same there, hence taking my car along.

I contacted indonesian customs but I have not gotten any reply. I googled and in general it is not allowed to import used cars to Indonesia on a permanent basis. I hear there is the possibility of using a CARNET DE PASSAGE (CDP) OR a temporary import.

Is anybody out there who has attempted something similar?
Is anybody familiar with indonesian import regulations?
Has any of you guys travelled indonesia by car and is it worthwhile importing a fully equipped 4x4?

All information is welcome!

Greetings from Africa!

Yes, it's not allowed to import any used car to Indonesia. Indonesia only allow to import used vehicle for special purposes like if you have any company in Indonesia and you have to buy some used special purpose vehicle because you think that if you should buy the new one it will become very expensive. And it is different because the import permit have to be issued by The Ministry of Industrial not from the Indonesian Customs or maybe you have any plan to be an Indonesian Ambassador in some foreign country and you will have some special permit to import your official car. I'm sorry for the bureaucracy in Indonesia.

Plenty of toyota in Indo, although most seeem to be petrol.
