Hi all,

I have a '94 HZJ73 (Belgium import) needing new exhaust (from manifold back) as well as new birfield joints (I suspect). I've been scouring sources like PartSouq where I've had success ordering parts before, but not finding much available. My rig is being worked on by a local shop and I don't have it near me at this time to do further inspection. I'm just trying to supplement efforts of the shop owner since this is not the sort of vehicle he regularly sees. I say birfield joins assuming that's what they are similar to what an 80-series uses that I also have. What has me suspecting that is when I turn hard left I hear a loose grinding sort of noise coming from the wheel. It doesn't happen when I turn right, but given the challenge of sourcing parts I figure I might as well order a matching set just to be safe.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Ryan

Are you in 4wd when you hear the noise while turning ? If not I’d think the wheel bearings might be loose or bad. The birf turns when in 4wd not 2wd unless hubs are locked .

Right on. Thanks. Yeah it's happening in 2wd. So maybe a simpler fix/parts source.

Pop hub off and check wheel bearings are tight… or just jack it up and check for play at the 12 o clock and 6 o clock by pushing and pulling the tire at those positions. I had a loose wheel bearing and it had that noise
