Good day

This is a 1 HZJ Diesel 45 series pickup we have here in Kenya.

For some reason there is no production year stamped on the plate but we believe it is a 1992 model.

We are having issues getting it started. perhaps the plugs? or the fuel system? What are good ways to check the fuel and plugs to see if they are working properly?

I noticed only 9.5-10 volts are going through the plugs and not 12 volts when its pre-heating. Is this ok?

The starter is fine, yet we have tried roll-starting but there is no fire!

Thanks in advance
Matt

Matt my aussie manual says do not run more than 9 volts through the glow plugs,so presumably that is the operating voltage.
Usually a 1HZ engine will start without heating the glow plugs in a warmer climate if it has good compression.

There is a fuel cut solenoid on top of the injector pump with a single wire from it.
The solenoid should make an audible click each time the ignition is switched on/off.
If there is no click you have most likely solved the problem.

Disconnect the fuel lines at the injectors, crank the engine and you should see a drop of fuel from each line as the pump compresses fuel.

Check your air/fuel filters as well.

Was it running and ok starting before or did it come on slowly?
What colour smoke when running or starting if any?

A 92 would make it a HZJ 75
