Welcome aboard! Your trip sounds great - wish I could go.

Check the vendors on this site, you will most likely find what you are looking for - mainly try G & S cruisers as they have a large supply of parts.

Good luck.

Hi Omar The normal procedure is to have your own fuel pump rebuilt or swap it for a rebuilt one.
They are heavy and postage costs are high so it best if you can source one as close to home if possible.

Whatever you get it should be bench tested for full pump pressure

hi all,
thanks alot ishobie, rosco,i was off for few days to try the hzj75 in the edge of the great sand sea (in the libyan desert ) in the egyptian land ,
was too hot more than 40 degree day time ,the car went very fine ,i had fj45 with 2f engine ,the ihz although its diesel ,but was great to cross the high sandunes, and i dunlop 7.5x16 road gripper ,was great in the soft, and rocky land too,
the problem i noticed in the car ,its gets over heated ,
in the dune i drive usualy on 2nd ,and 3rd gear ,(i dont have rpm ,but i think i abuse the car to make it cross it ,we were 2 jeeps cherookees,(produced in egypt ,liberty thats the name of it ,brand new ,and we had another toyota landcruiser,fj45(the only car had no problems at all druing the trip (5 days we made around 1000k.m,600 miles,
the brands new hjeeps ,had over heating problems too, there is a warning lamp to tell in both car the gear box or the transmition ,is over heated
any way about mine ,i had overheating problems ,that the temparature gauge goes close to the red area ,so i had to stop driving open the hood ,and face the winf for a while and then its calm down ,
i want to know the normal movement of the temp, gouge,?
and in the third day ,the engine went of koz of heavy sand ,when i wanted to restrat the car ,the ignetion made voice like that is thecattery is dead ,our bedouin (nomad ) guide told me its koz over heated the ignetion is too hot ,so wait a while then the car will run
and it happend like that
in my old fj i had never problems with over heating ,
what else wanna tel ,yeah the car was doing realy god job ,i,m happy with it ,
thanks again guys
and if you realy wanna try offroad come to egypt ,(it was 2 times part of the famous rally paris -dakar
tapage i,m from egypt
thanks alot again and i,m happy to be a memeber here
ishobie ,i will check what you adviced me

Hi There,

As far as the cooling is concerned - check the rad fluid, make sure it is in good condition, make sure you are running a hot climate oil, make sure your cooling system is operating correctly ie. not dirty/thermostat working etc., make sure radiator is plugged with sand or dirt - clean it out with spray water from inside the engine compartment to the outside. Make sure the fan is in good condition and belts are tight.

If engine is overheating, turn off airconditioner and turn on heat - gets hot in the cab - but cools down the engine.

Install aftermarket guages to read temperatures - ie. oil/exhaust etc.

Maybe the pump isn't set up right , have it checked. Is it using too much fuel? is it blowing smoke from exhaust, does it have lots of power?

I do not think the temperature guage shold ever get too close to the redline - if it does I think there is a problem in the cooling system.

Also, make sure you don't constantly keep the engine at high rpms and low speeds , that will heat it up - it is working hard with not enough air going by to cool it properly.

How much km did you have in your engine... ?

I'm pretty sure that the 1HZ is a great engine .. no mayor heating issues if the cooling sistem is ok .. so no matter what the reazon to overhead in a healthy engine, is more diesel than the engine can burn in the chambers ..

Check your EGT and what kind of oirl are you using . ?

Basic the same recomendations as Ishobie said ..

My 1HZ will run hotter on the beach in the softest sand, but as long as I back off on the throttle it wont even reach halfway.
I have a new engine,radiator and pump:D

Funny you should mention the Jeep transmissions overheatimg. 4WD Monthly Australia roadtested one in the Australian desert and it did the same thing everyday.
Warning light would come on and the computer would shut the engine down until the trans had cooled down.
They say it was never tested in desert conditions and only meant for North American conditions but what about Texas doesnt it get HOT there??

thanks all

hey all
thanks alot for the useful informations you post here
i went to my mechanic (unfortunality the toyota official dealer they dont have alot for my car and they are damn pricey too) so i go to regular mechanic but he is great ,
i checked the cooling system ,and any thing else will may cause to overheat the car ,but every thing is ok ,so he advised me to change all the hoses 9the conictions tubes from the cooling thing 9we cal it radatior) cause as he said its soft now and when you accelerate it suck and dont make the coolig water goeas all to the engine ,so i did it but have no time now to go offroad and test it ,
who ever wants to come to egypt for real offroad drive 9mean we can go off road in the libyan desert ,(the great sand sea for a month off road driving ,just sad ,dunes old valleys ,sure any one wants to come he is welcome

I take it your bottom radiator hose is collapsing,it could be the radiator tubes are blocked. Its best to dismantle the radiator and clean every tube with a wire rod.
Is your clutch fan working ok?
For a desert trip I would do the clutch fan, water pump and thermostat as well as a proper radiator clean

Do you need new springs or shock absorbers? The tlc gas should be ok,a lot of owners like the original shocks.
For springs try Dobinsons,OME(Australian) or Beltons(Malaysian). Lots to choose from but your locality is a problem.

You have to resize your pics with the image resizer free from Microsoft and use the smallest size .
To post pics look for the "manage attachments" below

I would love to go but I have to work:crybaby::D

I would recomend Dobinsons suspension, they are reasonable priced, and are very well constructed, the shock are a little more than the rest however they are some of the best shocks I have every run. Dobinsons are sold in Africa, I am not sure where about but I know that they ship springs there. If you call them they can tell you where they are sold. http://www.dobinsonsprings.com/site/index.html

I sell Dobinsons here in the USA, but because of shipping and exporting you would be better with a supplier in Africa.

Cheers,

Michael
