Hello all,
As the title states i would love to have a set of hummer bead locks for my SUA 60. A few questions though, what would be the best back spacing for say a 35x12.5 tire, i personeely was thinking 2.5 or 3 inch. also who sells them a complete wheel ready to mount a tire on recenterd to toyota of course? or is it a better way to go just peice a set together over time off ebay and other places. thanks again

cheers chappy

First off just in case you or someone else does not know, these are 16.5" rims. There are no variations. Finding radials for a 16.5 is getting tougher. There are tons of Bias tires out there though.

I've been running various sets of H1 wheels for about 6 yrs. I've dealt with 3 different vendors. Each set has been centers that I've welded into H1 wheels I've sourced.

Performance Cryogenics was my first set. Dean is awesome to deal with and he is %100 straight up with you. I've wheeled with Dean and dealt with him on a few projects and he is awesome to work with.
The inserts I had were 3/8" flat plate. I had to center them and set the height . Basically spend about 20-30 minutes checking measurements and then finally burning them in. Solid product. I love dealing with Dean, I just prefer stamped centers.

Stazworks was my second set. Cool looking product, many center designs to choose from but I will never purchase from them again. To say the least I was not impressed with the customer service during the whole process.
These were 5/16 stamped centers. Again like Dean's, I spent 20-30 minutes centering and measuring and then burned them in. Decent product.

My last set was USA6x6.com :: A Concept Whose Time has Come! Specializing in 6x6 conversions, Double Beadlocks and wheels, rockwell axles, and rockwell axle products . Even after the bad reports, I figured I'd give him a shot. First thing that cought my eye was the price. I paid $40 a piece for the centers. These are 5/16" stamped centers. When I ordered them Daniel told me they were on the shelf and would ship the next day. 2 days later I got a call from Daniel appologizing. He said they were not on the shelf but they would be @ his shop in a couple of days and I would have them in a week. They were and I did. I really appreciated the effort to call and appologize for the misinformation and to hold to the newly promised time frame.
These were BY FAR the easiest centers I have installed. I dropped the center in, tapped down and welded. They have a rolled outer edge that sits on the shoulder inside a H1 rim. if you butt the center to this shoulder, it yields 3.5" of BS, perfect for me. Awesome product, great price, great communication, and EASY install. I'd definately buy centers from Daniel again.

I am not a big fan of Daniel (USA6x6)

But his stamped centers are superior to the plate style IMHO.

They are cheap. I would NOT have him install them tho. Spend the time and do it yourself. A coffee can works very well for placement of the centers

BTW, I run Deans plate style. My only complaint was that the centers were not tapered for lug nuts..

Here's my copperhead h1's

That's interesting. The set I got from him was tapered.

I was not overly pleased ;)

$60 for the proper countersink...

10 mins of work for him. A lot worse for me..

BTW, those copperhead ones do not look tapered either...

ANd yes, Dean did the cage style inserts. He had some problems with them. I am not positive that he still makes them..

It is not so much a "bending" issue, it is more a "wheel fall off the truck" issue.

The countersunk holes I am referring to are what your lugnuts use to center the stud in the wheel and they act as a locking mechanism..

They are important..

lol... I had in my brain that you were talking about the pressed centers vs. the flat. No mine are not tapered either. Probably wouldnt be a bad idea to check them before you go, while you are on the trail and on the way back. Do they make a dimple die that size? :)

good luck putting a dimple in plate that thick.

I hope the welds on the mounting plate look better then the one's on your rock ring. looks like Mace did the welding :D

2.5 or 3" will be fine

try to find a used set of usa6x6 on pirate, they do come up every now and then. sometimes brand new

It's not a dimple die..

It is a countersink

Like this..
(I do not remember if the seat is 60* or 120* unfortunately)
