This project will revise the Travel Management Plans for the Mountain City, Ruby Mountains and Jarbidge Ranger Districts to accommodate increasing numbers and capabilities of off-highway vehicles (OHVs) on the Districts and to protect natural resources.nbsp; br /br /strongThe deadline for submitting comments is now March 9, 2009./strongbr /br /In order to give the public a chance to submit additional comments, the Forest Service has scheduled added public meetings (see schedule below). All meetings are scheduled for 5 -7 p.m. Pacific Standard Time.br /br /br /br /stronggt; February 23 in Elko at the Elko BLM Office/strongbr /br /stronggt; February 24 in Wells at the Forest Service Ranger Station/strongbr /br /stronggt; February 25 in Jackpot at the Community Recreation Center/strongbr /br /stronggt; February 26 in Mountain City Court House/strongbr /br /This project includes adjustments to the current forest transportation system, additions of user-created routes to that system, and the prohibition of motor vehicles off designated routes. This project will not analyze over the snow vehicle travel, such as snowmobiles. At the end of the project, the District Rangers will identify the minimum road and trail system needed for safe and efficient motorized travel and for administration, utilization, and protection of National Forest System lands.br /br /A scoping document describing the Proposed Action and maps depicting the project are available on the Forest's website at http://www.fs.fed.us/r4/htnf/projects/.
