I just ran across the list of proposed names for the JSC, and the record of votes cast for those names. The way we did it was everyone got 3 (maybe?) votes, so if you were dead set on one name, you could give it all 3, if you were torn, then you could divide as you saw fit.

So the record will not be lost...

With 0 votes each:

Jefferson State Toys
Siskiyou Toys
Siskiyou Toyotas
Toyota OR/CA
Pacific Crest Cruisers
S.T.O.M.P. (I don't know what that acronym stood for)
Beers, Gears, and Rears (Obviously the one we should have picked...)
Oregon Trail Toyotas

With 1 vote each:

T.O.N.C.A (???)
Ring of Fire Toys

With 2 Votes each:

S.T.O.R.M. (?)
Siskiyou Trail Toys

With 3 votes each:

Toyota Offroad Coalition
Siskiyou Trail Toyotas
OR/CA T.A.C.O (The taco proponents really took their lost hard...)

And with a resounding win at 7 votes

Jefferson State Cruisers!

The list of names/screen names I have with it (although I'm not sure if it's a list of present voters, or just some random list) is as follows:

Me
Toy350
Ebag
John McVicker
Blue HZ
Strever
Jamister
Flyrod
Dark Realms
Knoll
Red 40
Kief
CJF
Slamd 58
Ranger Rick

Further more the impetus for our club was a front axle rebuild party at Steve's (FlyRod) house in Ashland. About 3 blocks away I broke the timing chain in the Caird, and spent most of the day working on my own truck... Steve grilled some awesome elk steaks, and Kief gave me a ride home in the rain. I think Gabe wrote about it in a chapter report for Toyota Trails shortly after we were off the ground. This all happened summer/fall of 2008.

The first official meeting/name vote was also held at Steves house, and was sometime after Rubithon '08 because Garett showed video of him and Travis on the Rubicon, and more importantly of Travis flooding his FJ Cruiser, and having to winch out of a giant mud puddle.

Steve is AKA Flyrod, Dick, from Crescent City is "strever"..

And this is weird that you bring this up, I was thinking about our Barbecue at the official meeting and eating gourmet burgers with bleu cheese... MMMMM>.

Ok, that was only half the story on the name voting... I just found the round 2 results... I guess we weeded out the weaklings. (I was thinking that ORCA TACO had a stronger showing than the above results...)

So;

Siskiyou Trail Toys 6 votes

Siskiyou Trail Toyotas 7 votes

S.T.O.R.M. 8 votes

ORCA TACO 9 votes

T.O.R.C. 11 votes

Jefferson State Cruisers 22 votes.

I guess all the good food at the first meeting had clogged my memory of how this all came about... :D

I keep seeing more Cruisers around here who's owners have the "Cruiser-head" look- As though it is more than just a cool car to own. I need to keep packin' some cards...

I missed (didn't react in time) a Cruiser wave from an fj40 last week. :frown:

I used to always wave at any Cruisers, but then came to realize most 40 owners don't bother waving at 80's anyway.

On the other hand, I got dissed by Fly Rod the other day. I even started a thread about it, but he ignored that too.

From those early threads :lol::

I picture the State of Jefferson movement as being the mostly rural areas having their own representation vs. Metropolitan areas dictating laws for rural areas... Left or Right, sounds novel BUT it is a political issue, albeit historic I suppose. I think it could be put up for a vote but I think the concept of having a club name/acronym (acronym) that covers who we are, where we are from and what we are about.. leaving politics out of it.
I think its kind of nifty when the name sounds more official than just a club... coalition, authority, militia society (although there is already a rock-crawling-jeep-society in the coastal N. Cal. area)
I'm picturing some badge like logos officially displayed (magnetic door logo) ;). Maybe get some green pants, tan collared shirt, snap on pony tail with a Willy Nelson head band and a clip board... A USF green paint job would top it off nicely- nah, that's going too far..
