Since moving from an 80 to a 70 for a wheeler the storage space for camping has been an issue. Especially with a family of four. I've looked at a few roof racks and decided to build my own for fun. Its built out of 14 gauge 1/4" tubing and weighs under 40 Lbs. I was going to just use the drip rail clamps off the old rack but they turned out to be aluminum and I had to use the steel cross beams! Not as clean looking as I had intended but not bad. I have to weld on some tabs for lighting and paint the rack but you get the idea.

Do you guys think the small rear door would support a ladder if I fabed one up?

yes no problem. took one off my BJ74 jap import.

That's a nice rack! What were the rail clamps from? You running 33x10.50's on 8" rims?

The door will take the weight - are you doign the right or left door?

Have seen some here with stainless steel ladders onthe rear door.

Nice little rack.

Woudln't last 10 minutes here in the jungle something would rip it off or get hooked to it.

Even our hi-lift jacks on the rear get bent. Im making an arm on mine to flip the bamboo over the jack and we only have the 5' ones not the 6' ones they are just too tall.

Ya I would like to put a rack on , Same thing wouldnt last 9 minutes without the F,N thing getting caught.
NICE RACK

oh I'm sure it will do, and last nicely... not everyone drives through bamboo forests here in NA guys...

Old Thule rack that was on the truck when I bought it. You guessed the wheel and tire combination exactly right.

NICE RACK

I'm going to run guide wires from the rack to the top of the ARB bumper to deflect branches. With the 45 on the nose of the rack I hope to go snag free.

Bamboo runs verticle, fallen logs and underground parking lots run horizontal , LOL,
I love the rack, I wish I could put one on .

NICE Touch with the cables to save the widshield. Exellent idea with the 45.

We'll see how the snagging goes. I had a huge rack on a old truck of mine and it wasn't too much of a hinderance.

Thanks for he opinions on the ladder fellas.
