Recently, I replaced one of my hub housings (thanks to Valley Hybrids and Georg) in a pinch when one of my races spun.

The other day, I was looking at Trail Gear's website (this is not a political thread, I don't care) and noticed they now have these for sale.

Solid Axle Hubs | Toyota, Suzuki Samurai, and Jeep Off Road Parts

My question is this.

I know the hub housings on the late model FJ40's and all 60-62's used a hub where the studs pressed on through the rotor while the earlier (76-79?) hub housing pressed the studs through the housing and then bolted the rotor on to the housing with SIX separate bolts.

Are the Mini truck hub housings compatible with the 40-60-62 spindles?

While I have heard horror stories about TG, I have had nothing but excellent customer service and very well built products from them (axle seals, six shooters and a bunch of little crap) and to learn that they now not only make replacement spindles, but also hub housings, makes me happy as these parts get more and more expensive and used.

I'm thinking this is a direct swap but I wanted some experts to chime in.

Parts options like these make me want to stick with my Toyota drivetrain and fight the good fight (whatever the hell that means, maybe Medusa will scorn me for not using Toyota parts built at the Toyota factory and still calling it a Toyota).

the hub bodies are the same for any solid axle toyota with the press-on rotors. so any solid axle 4wd built after 81 has the same wheel hub. that includes minis ( up to late 85 ) and cruisers up to late 90.

it's good to see a product like this being offered. the only "technical" issue i have with them is that pretty much all their products are made overseas and the quality control/metalurgy is less than great. if you do a search about their steering arms you'll see what i'm talking about.

unless you're having problems blowing the hubs off the factory hubs or busting the dowels out of them, i'd say stick with the oem wheel hubs.

ps: TG sucks! :flipoff2:

I copy you on that, they were just so shiny that I wanted some for myself.

I'm running stock hubs (2 dowels, stock studs). I check tightness before every trip. No failures in the forgiving Moab terrain.

My curiosity comes from it supposed forged construction.

The ability to build a very capable and strong Toyota axle keeps getting easier.
