Nice cruiser and nice fish. They don't taste as good as those from salt water...the fish I mean.

If I had to pick, I would have to say that small stream trout fishing is my favorite, but I like to fish for anything. Some of the best times Ive ever had were bream fishing with a 4 wt fly rod at local farm ponds. Where were you smallie fishing in Va?

Howdy, fjz40z, you got an amen here hoss! I could say the same, use to do the same on the Neuse. The spillway behind Falls lake use to be awesome for that, but it's now been over fished for over 7 years now. Use to head out there and wet wade with ole Budro 2 times a week in the summer. I love trout fishing as well, just love the mountains.

Was smallie fishing on the James. Did 2 trips down it this summer. Both times Buchcanan to Glaslow, bout 30miles in a canoe. Also did the Stauton/Roanoke. Hardest pulling freshwater fish in my books. I'm like you tho, if I'm fishing, I'm as happy as a pig in sh#*$t! lol!

If you ever want to do a couple day river trip smallie fishing in Va, let me know. Shoot if anyone wants to go actually;)
Here's a pic on the James back in Aug....

Beautiful pic! Let me know if you ever want to go wet a line some time. I couldnt agree more that smallies are the hardest fighting fresh water fish. I havent got to do much smallie fishing ever since I moved to NC, I fished the Dan River a few times this summer with not much success, it is supposedly a great smallmouth fishery I just havent had time to find any of the real good stretches of water.

Kewl hoss! Done albacore before at the coast? Use about 9wt-11wt flyrod with a good reel and at least 150-200yards of backing. Got a spot where I've had them busting on silversides between me and the beach wading in about 2' of water. You wanna talk about getting ur heart rate up;) lb fer lb amazing how hard and fast they run. That's just starting to pickup here and will be in full swing in about 2 weeks or so.

Late spring I'm game any weekend to go smallie fishing in Va. James is a great river, they had a fish kill last couple years so alot of the bubbas are dead, staunton is less fish and mostly brutes, and was told by a riverrat I need to check out upper sections of the New in Va. Some squirrelly water water for a canoe, but that makes things fun.

Anytime u wanna go, just PM me. Here's a pic of an ably off our kickarse coast. On a 9wt. I'll warn you tho, once you hook one, you will be ruined. Got me hooked on saltwater fishing man after i hooked my first on fly back in 98. Like crack, but it doesn't kill;)

They are pruttee! They are considered trashfish by many...however I meet an old professor at NCSU that taught me a little trick to fix that;) Hit me up when your back, if they are still around we'll go. They usually stay around for about 4-6weeks and they started showing up about 1.5 weeks ago.

Beautiful fish! Tasty too I bet. When I get back I will definitely be up for a OBX trip.
