I have an opportunity to buy some FJ Cruiser seats from a wrecker for installation into my FJ40..

Just curious what the census is on how comfy the Cruiser seats are.

Cheers,

We like ours. They are comfortable in short and long trips and offer good adjustment. The drivers seat can raise several inches so you get better over the hood vision. Seat material is durable and weather resistent but it holds dust, pet hair etc.

Seat comfort is very subjective; everyone's ass and back are different I guess. The stock FJC seats are decent for me; I've done a couple of 1000-mile days in mine and they didn't kill me. Not as comfortable as the stock seats in my FJ80, but most people hate those so go figure.

My FJC seats look to be about the same width as my stock FJ40 seats so you should be OK there.

They are nice, during long trips they make my back hurt a bit, if you buy invest in some wet oakle seat covers that way the dirt and pet hair dont get stuck in them

A bit hard I think.
My seats start to hurt at about 600 miles. Not bad, but I might get some covers this summer.

My wife and I hated ours, we refered to it as FJ butt. We have since replaced them with Corbeau Suspension seats, much preferred.

did you get the reclining version?

I rate them as the "Sinking Seats" ;)

The seats are really comfortable. After being in the rig for the 2008 tour I can honestly say that they are pretty comfortable. 8 sometimes 10 hours driving and I did not get any sore spots in my legs or keyster. However, the seats in a 40....you'll have to report on that on.

I've got a bad case of sciatica which on the drivers side I'm ok because I have the armrest...the passenger side was pretty hard to sit in after a long trip or on bumpy rides... I've since got the passenger armrest and that's seem to help a lot.

Can't speak for the FJC seats.

Put a pair of 2002 Celica seats into my 76'40. Lots of nice compliments how they look in the truck.

Best compliment is how my 6'4" bod fits ..and no more back issues :D

Good Luck

Yes I did, and the bonus is that they also tilt all the way forward as well making access to the rear much easier.

FJ seats are crappy, wife n kids hate them. I can put up with them but would never buy them. Theres a TSB on the drivers, if thats any indication. If your gonna buy seats, buy them from a seat company, free FJ seats would beat a milk crate but thats about all.

I actually thought the seats were comfortable and i liked that they are waterproof. I think that it is all in how you adjust them. Alot of people forget that a seat that is adjusted to be comfortable on short around town trips is not what will be comfortable for a long trip. I would do it in a heartbeat as long as they weren't overly expensive, but to each his own.

Like the seats/hate upholstry

I find the seats fine
The fabric wears FAST if you wear jeans and "slide" in and out a lot.
Wet Okole's solved my problem with that, but they tend to PU pet hair, etc. as well (but not as bad as the sandpaper seats).

I have also heard complaints about the seats wearing prematurely but i had 32,600mi and never had a problem at all. Never even any little fuzzballs or anything indicating any wear. Those that have had problems chime in. Good Luck :D

I also really liked the adjustablility of them as well.

I have 65500 on mine in 18 months no issues with excessive wear just what I would consider normal.

I'm a WHOPPER!

The fact that I'm close to 300#'s and 6'2" tall may have something to do with it!

But it IS a "truck" (hilux)! I just have a wear problem in ONE spot (the left side upper seat where the seat air-bag module is located).
