LOL.... Yeah I kinda did the same thing until I realized that the download file from MEGA was actually a VB environment import, by researching what the file extension was. Once I did that, it was all good.

First thing I did was go through and run all the diagnostics for all ECU for my truck. From there I cleared any old codes and just figured out what was available. First major thing I did was clear out all the keys in the system (aside from the one that is in the ignition because it blocks you from doing that) then re-wrote only my keys to the transponder ECU.

Google the codes that you have and you will find that the first 3 are brake/wheel speed sensor related and last two are center diff related (from just a quick glance).

thanks, ya, a ton of info on the codes... i defintely have a brake/mc issue. noted in my cross country post a few days or so ago. i think im going to continue to throw money at it. what a treat to drive.

Why is there nothing in customize available? i thought at least be drl to turn off...

Is it possible to have multiple versions of TechStream on one machine?

I have Version 12.xx.xxx and Version 14xx.xxx

I prefer to use v12 as it's more proven and starts up from a single icon

For v14, I had to start up from both a standard icon and a 64Bit patch icon (kinda weird, but it works)

v12 only goes up to 2018 and v14 goes to 2020

Thing is, if I try to install v14, it says it will update v12

If I do a clean install of v14 and try to install v12, it says I have to uninstall v14 first

How can I go about having both versions on tap separately for me to pick and choose which one I wanna run?

Why not throw the VM on your machine, this way you have both. You can have v14 running natively on the machine and v12 running in the VM.

Hi all, bunch of threads out there on this but figured I'd bump the main one. Couple of questions:

1) Does anyone have a link for one of the OBD2 cables that will actually ship quickly during the COVID stuff? I'd rather not wait for something to come from China right now. I see a bunch of similar stuff on ebay and Amazon but not sure what's what.

2) I have a laptop from ~2012 with Windows 7 on it. Will the Techstream link in the first thread work for my pc?

i running about a 2012 dell with windows 7, no issue with the link in first thread. Seems best to insert USB cable after VM open. I did brake bleed today. cable was from CN, 60 days ish to get. cant help there

Try OBDInnovations... as for the laptop, the link you are referring to is actually a VM. As long as you have a VM software to run on it you will be good.

Thanks! Looks like a few cable options. Looked through the thread but I don't see a definitive answer:

Do i need the more expensive 2.0 cable or will the 1.4 work with the OP instructions?

Can’t give a definitive answer but they do state this warning on the V1.4.1 cable listing

Hm yeah that's what scared me on the website but looks like others have successfuly been able to measure AHC pressures just fine with the 1.4

Would like the cheaper cable if possible. Anyone else have a definitive answer here?

Using a 1.4v cable and no issues. Not exactly sure what the "k-line communications" item is unless that has something to do with communications to the AHC system.

that vci j2534 cable works with the links in the first thread. Took me one restart com retry, also inserting after techstream is open.
thanks op.
win10 lenovo.

my dell xp crapped out yesterday. So new install win 10- lenovo- 64

Finally decided to get with the Techstream crowd and have to say - meh. I've previously been using a small bluetooth OBD dongle and Torque pro and it's been great for CEL codes and simple gauge stuff just for fun to look at. TIS is pretty difficult to navigate around, def. not intuitive on where to find things, and certainly not a "pretty" interface. I can see using it for more complex things like AHC pressures, but for general use, eh.

Funny you say that because there are certain DTCs that weren't showing in my Bluedriver but when I pulled up Techstream they were there. This had to with immobilizer DTCs so not sure if that is something that would show in the BD reader.

If all you plan on doing is pulling regular codes and viewing live data, then yes, any cheap scan tool or BT dongle will be faster and easier to use :hmm:

That being said, there's MUCH more that TechStream can do that regular scan tools won't (especially if you have a newer vehicle)

Exactly... I have both. Purchased one of the bluetooth (BlueDriver) OBDII scanners and keep that in the truck. That is the "just in case" scenario I run into issues on the road and can see what is going on. The Techstream laptop is for at home while doing deeper dive stuff, and doing other customizations on the wife's 11 4Runner. For me, the ability to wipe and program transponder keys was more than worth the cost for the TechStream by itself.

I've got a box full of the BT adapters

You don't know how many of them I've forgotten in customer cars lol

TechStream doesn't really do much for my 80, but I have fun with it on my Sienna lol

Which ones? The cable is no longer available there but you can find tons of others on ebay, amazon, obdinnovations, etc.
