How much would you pay for a truck with these specs?

I'm not thinking about selling, just wondering what it would have taken to buy the truck I am building...

new paint
good interior
rebuilt carb
46 gallon fuel tank
dual batteries
heavy duty radiator and alternator
heated shower
bull bar
8000 lb Warn winch
hella accessory lights
1/4" steel lockbox console
MB Quartz premium eight speaker stereo
tinted windows
custom aluminum storage drawer
custom aluminum cargo barrier

custom swing away tire carrier
nerf bars
Viper alarm system with ignition kill
aftermarket power locks
satellite tracking system (not satellite/GSM hybrid)
add-a-leaf springs
two inch lift
new 31" tires

To build it would cost what it costing you,to buy it off you, roughly 1/2 of what it will cost you if I was feeling generous.:flipoff2::grinpimp:

I just noticed its got add a leafs and 31 in tyres. Why not go for some proper suspension to carry all that weight and finish it off with 33 in tyres?

$3500.......i Would Have To See It In Person Though.

Yeah, there is a glaring omission of a diesel engine too...

Going to 33" wheels would likely require some gear changes too, correct? Don't think I want to go there yet.

Still has the original gearing.

I wouldn't expect to make back what I put in. Just trying to figure out if I would have been better off NOT quitting my job when I did to build up the truck myself and instead keeping my job a while longer, saving money, and buying a similar truck. Of course, I wanted to do the work myself to learn everything I could about the vehicle. Furthermore, I'm building the truck exactly the way I want to and doing a bomber job - I don't know if I would have found a truck with everything I wanted and I wouldn't know what quality of work the seller put into it. And finally, I enjoy the work, so there are a lot of intangibles. I'm just curious about the financial aspect.

Fifty cents on the dollar. But you are asking the wrong people. Most of us have a rig, that we built are wish to build. You've probably done a great job and a newby might jump all over your rig cause it's almost built up. However you are lacking the suspension to carry all that "stuff". So new owner would still need to drop $1000-$1800 on that. Droppng a job to build a cruiser? Good deal if there is $ somewhere, but not a sound "investment" plan. Maybe if you had sold it first and was being paid to build it up for new owner. Face it these are hobbist rigs, once built by a PO there is not much hobby, just maintance. Not many on this board would buy into that at any kind of "fair market value" any more than your insurance company would give you a quarter of it's "worth" if you totaled it.

You need to tap into the same demographics that TLC (restoration folks in CA) are going for, the turn key bunch of garage ornimate collectors that like to buy into whatever they think is cool. That's who I'll go for if I ever sell my rig, I'll never advertise on any tech board, the "prospective buyers" are just too educated to convince that my rig is worth what I think it is. And I think my rig is top-of-the-market material...

So, it looks like you have ended up where you would have if you had kept your job and bought a built rig, except, you've got the rig but now no job to keep the $ coming for gas and maintance...get a job, keep the rig, your good to go forgetaboutit.

Just a matter of opinon, and I'm full of them...available to give talks, on any subject, to your club, family, or religous organization...

Very good points, High Desert. It's true, people on this board enjoy the building up of their trucks, or at least the dreaming of doing so, and once they are built it becomes a different thing. You're also probably right about 50 cents on the dollar. And buying a TLC rig would be awesome, they are so ridiculously nice, but that would defeat the hobbyist part of owning a cruiser, and they are shockingly pricey.
FYI, I quit my job in preparation for traveling, not just to fix the cruiser. Fixing up the cruiser is also prep for the trip, though I am admittedly going overboard because in the mean time I fell in love with the truck. But I feel extremely fortunate to be able to spend as much time as I have been working on her, it's a good hobby!

I sold my '87 60 for $10K two months ago. This represents about 75% of what I had into the truck.

Very strong running 2F engine - in tune
Dual Optima YT 31 batts w/ isolator system
FF rear end
H55F
New clutch assembly
rebuilt Tcase
Full OME suspension with shocks and greasable shackle pins, etc.
Stock wheels with 31X10.50X15 MTRs
Hella driving lights and headlight upgrade
Very clean interior
Rust free exterior
170K miles

Not apples for apples, but this might give you an idea.
