How much AMPERE going out from a 3B motor alternator (12V) ? (BJ60 - 1983)

35 to 55amps. But generally 35 i think. Its not a whole lot, and its only that low because it only needed to run the headlights as accessories. The engine does not actually require power to run, unlike a petrol it seems.

Not more that 55 Id say.

Not much.

Is that enough for fog light, radio, head light, horn, fan... all together ? ;-)

seriously, enough for the fog light ?... because 35A, is not a lot !

EDIT: i see you're 12v..

Get the numbers for the output on all the accessories you're running, add them up, compare to alternator rating. Add aftermarket gauges for volts and amps to monitor a give you feedback. run a deep-cycle 2nd battery to buffer the draw if you're over-running the system.

EPC shows the 12V 1983 3B alt as 40 amps. 24V 3B shows as a whooping 25 amps.

but that 'whooping' 25 amps is actually more power than the 40amps at 12 volts.

fog lights @ 100watts each ¬ 6amps/light = 12amps
headlights on highbeam @ ¬80w ¬ 4-5amps each = 10amps
standard radio ¬ 3amps
horn is intermittant so it wont make much differance
fan could draw anything from 5-15amps

so you will have no probs just hooking up a couple of spotties, but be aware that alternators make only a small percentage of their rated output at idle speeds, so turn off the spotties if idling for long periods

Fore Shore...I love the electrical efficiency of my 24V vehicles...
