How many spare tires do you carry?

Seems like hardcore types always take at least two spare tires when they go wheeling or into the back country. Has anyone ever actually had to use more than one spare during a trip?

One spare and I have a patch kit too with a wimpy compressor. Here in Central America there are folks to fix your tires EVERYWHERE!!

I do carry two spares on the long trails (>3 days). I've only ever had to use two spares once. Problem is when you employ a spare, the remainder of your trip is taken with caution, going slow, planning/fretting when you'll get to fix it. I prefer to not have to worry about that.

Out in the Oregon outback, I usually take two spares along with my patch kit and compressor. Out there your a long way from help and it is very remote. Along with that, almost everything is volcanic in nature. Makes for lots of very sharp rocks.

And yes, I've used both spares before. Sure gald I had them.

Usually one spare plus a comprehensive repair kit that includes a full-size tube and large patches, plus the usual small patches and tools. From experience, I also carry spare valve stems (rubber).

On expeditions I've carried two spares, sometimes even three (in South America, depending on the area). You have to balance between the safety of additional spares and the extra weight, which may contribute to damage.

How many spares

On my 60 I have twp spares . One on the rear rack and one on the roof. I also have a Saftey Seal kit which is great. A power Tank and Viair compressor rounds out the kit. I have yet to have to change a tire with a puncture , I have been able to plug and go. I just got a set of Tyre Pliers but I am still trying to get them to work. Onece I get the hang of that I will add a tube or two to the lit.
