23.9 gallons is what I recall. City driving should ideally net you 10-12MPG.

yeah thats what i figured. Just picked it up on sat. driveing it since monday. Evrrything seems pretty good on it so far. But it does need new exhuast. Wich the shops here wont run like i want. Im wanting where the two exhuast manifold pipes come down joined right there run into one cat and one muffler out the back like on a v8. but becuase difrent then stock they bein wusses about it.\

Also still got vacum lines to replace distributer to adjust coil to replace. and trans cooler to install along with electric fan in place of the belt fan. Figure i should be able to bring my city mpg up to atleast 12 im hopeing and praying.

Did some wheeling today got stuck had a blast to.

i would not replace the stock fan with an electric. the charging system is taxied as it is and you will not come close to an adequate replacement for a properly functioning stock fan and fanclutch. as for the exhaust some have gone to a single cat but keep in mind that you need to have both O2 sensors mounted correctly or the computer will be incorrectly firing the injectors, and preformance will go down.
Is your fj62 stock or is it lifted on larger tires. because 9 mpg on a stock cruiser is not good. i get 10-12 around town on mine running on 34"s. vacuum leaks could cause this but a full tune up via the Factory service manual will point out where the loss of gas milage is coming from. if your engine has been tweaked with by someone not adhering to the FSM specs this could be our low mpg as well. things like the Throttle Positioning Sensor (TPS) need to be on, timing , valve clearance spark plug gap.
and from been there done that if you do get a new exhaus tmake it as strait as you can you can get inexpesive stainlesscats from summit racing and you will need 2 new O2 sensors to be install AFTER all welding is done on the new exhaust.
also check out the 3FE list at 3fe@yahoogroups.com even if you don't jooin the list alo of good info in the files section

The standard answer here is, "not enough".

That said, I've gotten over 290 miles on a tank before. I was pretty worried, though, and I did have a stumble a mile before I got gas.

I duno whats been done in the past to the truck. I do no i got cracked vac lines and stufflike that. Ive done plugs at 32 gap new wires distributar cap rotry buttonthinking of doin the coil.

the altinator is there a chevy swap able to be done on it? is there a newer alt i can grab off a newer used toyota truck?

I no for a fact you get better gas milage with electric because i put one on a yj jeep witha 4 poper 5 speed and 31s. Befor the fan couldnt use 5th after the eletric fan was able to use 5th again like ya could befor the tires. Pluss gained like 4 mpg!

friend ofmine wants to adjust the valves for me. Problem is i dont want it done till new exhuast gets done.

unfortuanetly there isn't an altenator to swap. mean green was supposed to be making one, but the word is out still as to how it preforms. the stock alt. is an 80 amp alt and it you just add a thicker gaugeed charging wore (and 100amp fuse) this will really solve most power issues. i runn dual batts and a winch a woffer in the back and only on days of solid winching do I run into issues.

As far as the fan. there is a bunch of things written in the files section/history of the 3fe list basically you are not going to get the proper kind of cooling with an electric fan over the clutched stock fan. because it is clutched there is no drag when it is not engaged. don't want to tell you don't do it let us know hoe it works out but the 3fe really likes to over heat fast .

i went to a custom exhaust place that did hot rods and the like. the best diameters for pipes are 2.25 tot he cats 2.25 to a Y to a muffler then 2.5 out the back

i was considering the fans off the chevy astro van last year read an artical in hotrod said the fans out the astros with duble bumb on back best you can get moves most air blazy blazy blazy.
I was thinking of puting one on front one on back of radiator. One set at like 180 and other set for 250 either get one them dual fan thermostats or pick up two regular wich ever cheaper.

The altinator so just run like some 4 guaGE off the post on back of it over to the battery like ive done in all my other cars to help with chargeing issues . Cuz i do plan on adding a sub to lol gotta have some bumb in the junk!

the debate on cltuch fans takeing power or not takeing power is way to long to get into. But heres my look at things.

When the motor is running weather the cltuch is in gaged or not that fans stillseems to be turning. Not saying the cltuch is bad im talking on the 17 prior cars ive owned 13 had them. And i noticed drastic improvements by removeing them.
