Join the club, if it makes it any better. I've the wet type (bleeding) in the right eye and the dry type in the left. What are they recommending for treatment?
The optometrist has me taking an AREDS 2 supplement.

I just found out, so will see an Ophthalmologist hundreds of years from now when I can get an appointment from my doc for a referral. Then whichever archeologist examines my corpse will be able to tell what I should've done had Middle Tennessee had enough doctors to service its population.

Sounds very similar to our hurry up n wait system here, blah.

Well we are all in this together, the younger guys need to pay attention...it’s sure not getting any better as I age.

For @bobm - in Moab

I am glad your pooch is OK. We have "Mojave Green" variety here. Not very big, sometimes up to four feet but usually smaller, very strong venom and don't necessarily rattle. Google Mojave green. Very dangerous. I have been around a lot of rattlesnakes here in the west but these scare me the most. They are the predominant variety in the area I currently live in.

Yes, the mojave greens are the only rattlers I wont mess with. They have the duel venom and one of them breaks down your nervous system. They will also look for a fight while most others keep to them selves. Not so many in San Diego County but at the north end and into OC is where I find them. I do a lot of work at the north end of Camp Pendleton and I remember finding an alarming amount of rattlers there. Not just Mojave greens but all kinds. I just found out that is were animal control releases them. WTF!

my dad was at camp Pendleton and he told me they would find nests of rattlers hibernating , nests up to 10' around, they blew them up with dynamite
That would be a “blast” (ha ha).

I remember one of the Marine options I was in ROTC with told me about a time he and his friends found a quite-dead animal and decided to blow it up with fireworks.

They had a decided lack of situational awareness about the blast radius and said they got covered in a rain of maggots.

That story still makes me laugh…

One of three we found the next day, not sure what the heck is going on here.

To be clear, I don’t like snakes of any type. Last year I came face to face with good sized bull snake when opening up a gate into the pasture (probably a foot between us). Apparently my appearance wasn’t very inviting either cause he turned about pretty quick.

As I get older I don’t mess with the many of them as they do help with a few things around here. However I would buy me a couple hawks for snake patrol if I could!!

We are on 18 acres, 1/2 mile deep bordering a creek on one side. So far we have ran over a very fat, 5' Timber Rattlesnake and two smallish Copperheads. That's on the paved driveway between the house and the road (maybe 1/3 mile long). I've also seen a couple of Water Snakes and a Rat Snake. So far no Moccasins which was my number 1 worry.

We do have a resident Hawk on the property. :D

Today was my last official day of work. Haven't been doing too much work since returning from Saudi in early June but now it's official. I'm guessing tomorrow isn't going to be much different than today. :p

Congrats, pretty cool next chapter I presume
Thanks Jon. Pretty sure I'm going to like it. Open to a little consulting here and there but otherwise just family, friends, and toys. Bought a boat last week; exactly what we wanted........unfortunately it's in Portland. Should be here late next week.

Not that I’m retired but I’ve slowed down significantly since I no longer do patient care. I have complete freedom of my schedule as long as I get my chart reviews done and stop by clinics and do a little teaching. 20 hours a week when I want, who wouldn’t want that schedule!!

I can’t recall in last 30 years when I didn’t have to be at work before 8. Now I’m up when sun comes up and beat the kids to work who are working the clinics. Funny how I can’t even be late when I dont have to be on time any longer.
