How do I know if I have VVTi 2UZ-FE?

I am not in the US, so we have different roll-outs of engine types and model updates.

I have a Middle East spec 100, standard 2UZ 4.7 V8.

One would think.....

However, the powers-that-be in my country have registered the vehicle as a 202kW engine. That equale 270+ horses. and would thus indicate the VVTi engine.

My car is from 9-2005 and I know that some late 100's are the VVT-i engine. However, how does one identify it as such? The engine code remained the same, no?

The reason I would like to know is that I doubt I have 202kW, and this number impacts my road taxes.

Surely someone knows this? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Take the valve cover off and have a look at the cam pulley, there might be a easier way but that's the only thing I can think of.

UAE got VVTI in 2005, just read it in another thread..
Cool, thanks. Where did you read this? Search function did not work for me for this information. (nor did Google).

It looks like the inner timing cover and cam pulley's have different part numbers for the vvti vs non vvti (the engine cover too). I'm not sure if either part numbers are visible by taking off the inspection cover before pulling the valve cover?

VVTI's have the black plastic intake manifolds vs aluminum.
