well i bought a cb antenna and a cable. I didn't buy the mount because i figured i would use the cable i bought and just drill a hole in back of the stock antenna and put my cb antenna there. I understand i need to ground the antenna, if i just install it so the metal of the body is between the two sections the arrow is pointing to, should i be ok.

If that is an NMO mount that you will drill a hole in the (metal) roof, then no need to do additional grounding for the antenna - you should have a very solid ground with that mount. If you are mounting in some other manner, or to a fiberglass roof, then you should get some grounding briad (looks like woven metal) and potentially solder that to a large washer that will fit over the mount and then use a short run to the frame, metal body, etc.

Cheers, Hugh
