Simple question. How easy or hard would it be to put the 4.7 V8 from a GX470 into a Prado120? Cause its something I'm looking to do with my car. This car has immense personal value to me and I'm wanting to make it more exciting and special.

^ 100% all of this. It's going to be quite an undertaking due to something as "simple" as the steering wheel position.I'm not sure if anyone has done this before. I think you would need access to a USDM GX470, including the wiring harness, various ECU/Canbus systems, and applicable engine/transmission components. Wrecked USDM GX470s are not hard to find in the salvage yards here in the US. I would also presume that you'll need to lengthen/shorten various harnesses due to one vehicle being LHD and one being RHD, as well as verify that the RHD steering column/shafts do not interfere with the 2UZ-FE. There could also be another fatal flaw that I'm not aware of - due to USDM/ADM vehicle nuance of the LHD/RHD issues.
Thank you. That's really helpful.I'm not sure if anyone has done this before. If I were going to do this swap I would personally want to have a complete, wrecked or rusty, and running GX470 on hand. Then you would have every part on both vehicles and could have the best chance of getting it to work. I am presuming (yet again) that getting complete GX470 in Australia might be hard or expensive, in which case you'd need to source parts piecemeal from the USA and spend a lot of time looking at factory service manuals to figure things out.
Also. I am new to all this lmao. I'm sorta learning as I go here.Thank you. That's really helpful.
With all that being the case I might look elsewhere. You got any ideas of what could fit easier?
Mine is the V6 version BTW
Probably not a whole lotThank you. That's really helpful.

Well that's the tricky part. The one I know about from Bullet is for the duel VVT-I version, not the OG single VVT-I like I have. I wonder if I can upgrade the engine to the duel VVT-I version?Probably not a whole lot. Since it's a CANBUS system, it's pretty challenging to deal with. You're probably limited (within reason) to the engines and transmissions that came in the 120/GX470 platform.
Are supercharges for the 4.0V6 and option down there? Magnuson makes them in the US for the 1GR in the similar-gen Tacoma/4Runner. Maybe you also have a local option. I'd love an Elate supercharger from your hemisphere for my 4.7 V8.
I do have one advantage here though. I don't need to be reasonable at all when it comes to costs with this car lmfao.Probably not a whole lot.
