I have the opportunity to purchase a m101. The bed is perfect....here is a pic of the undercarriage.

It seems to be mostly surface rust, or the parts can be easily replaced (shocks, leafs, etc)

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

Here are some pics of the tub:

Nice looking one...I think I got lucky!

no brainer.... buy it!!

I love when the dry coast people worry about that kind of rust LOL

Thats a fine looking M416 trailer . By the looks of it I'd say its from the late 60s

repack the bearings , check the tires out really good as they maybe 30+ years old and have fun with it

I'm from upstate NY and that type of rust is easy. Grind off and paint or treat with a rust killer and he'd be good to go for a long time.

Any suggestions for new shocks? Maybe even new springs?

Thanks!

that's a nice find... did you end up getting it ??? hope so...!!!
Sandblast it and P Coat it...

I am picking it up today. I will post some pics.

The thing I am wondering is on alot of the m101's I have seen there are hooks on the outside or on the inside (for bungie cords etc), like I have seen on so many others. I wonder what is up with that. I know I can add them without worries, but still, makes me wonder.

It looks like they are there in the pictures.

In this one it looks like they are huh?

Are you sure that isn't a M416? The hooks are there.

Well it was listed as a m101....so until I see the label, I won't know.

What makes you think it might be a m416?

The hooks, fenders, wheels, tub floor, hand brake location, reflector location, outside handle location, landing leg style, pintle style, etc. I would put money on that being a US M416.

Look in my signature at the link for my M416. They look EXACTLY the same except mine has had the tailgate cut out of it. Look on the data plate on the outside rear of the trailer tub on the passenger top corner. That will tell you the model.

Just those few things? Gosh, I thought it was something important!

lol...either way....

The M416 is a better trailer in my opinion anyway. I admit I have no justification for that, but I love mine.
