I'm interested in finding out people's opinions about what is reasonable for an hourly rate at your local shops. I realize the hourly rate may vary based on the type of service you're receiving, however I wonder what an acceptable hourly rate is in your area. I am NOT including your local Firestone or what I'll term more of a "generic" shop. I'm really referring to a shop that provides engine work/swaps, light fabrication, some custom projects, wiring, etc.

Is say $100 per hour out of the question?

What are you seeing in your area?

Thanks

My buddy charges $100-120 depending on how the customer treats him.

We are around $120 an hour and we work on anything that comes through the door, literally.
If customers bring their own parts, the labor rate is $140 and there is no warranty.

Thanks for the replies. The shop I took my 40 to is $100 per hour. I'll wait and see how their work is as this is the first time working with them. I just had no idea what "reasonable" or typical hourly rates were. Very helpful.
