Are there any natural/public areas to explore that are warm? Taking the wife there next month and hoping for a unique adventure and would like to do some hiking too.. any leads or maps appreciated....thanx

Plenty of hiking around.
AT runs through town and others.
Lots of gravel roads to explore and easy access to max patch/wolf creek falls.

Paint creek corridor worth exploring bia auto or foot. Nice swimmable falls but not warm!

Warm you mean water? Not really. But good reviews from couples for a couple hours rent in man made hot tubs supposedly plumbed from springs there at campground. Cabins avail too.

Not to scale

Max Patch is nearby. It's where the AT crosses this large, grassy mountain with 360 views. Pretty popular for hikers, campers, andday trippers. From there, you are very close (20 min) to Wolf Creek Falls, where a group of us recently camped. A very secluded waterfall. Hurricane Creek trail (and many others) are in the area too.

The only warm water that I can think of is Belews Lake. Right by the powerplant's output it stays warm most of the year. Summer it's downright unbearable. They call that area the "Hot Tub"... and it lives up to it's name.

Dudley falls was about the most pleasant swim I've had in that area. Not sure of the temps now though.

Can't be any worse than courthouse

We will be touring on the Goldwing so I will be avoiding the dirt roads/trails. Unless it is a nice day hike. thanx for the input guys

Wow, I bet you didn't think that map would be published!

LOL. Was perfect timing. That thing resurfaced from the depths of the drafting desk and headed for the trash the day Shuan posted that.

Shuan. Even on the bike it would be worth a short gravel road ride down river rd along the french broad to ride up paint creek corridor which is paved. Beautiiful area.

We rented a stone house on south river rd. It has a hot tub, not mineral bath. But it has its own deep swimming hole on the creek. jump in the cold, then relax in the hot tub.... may likely hike up to lovers leap. I would love to get her up to max patch, but am concerned about riding 2up on gravel roads... thanks for all the feedback

I was just there this weekend. I drove up HC to max patch. One of my caliper bolts fell off somewhere. Every time I hit the brake pedal my caliper hit the wheel. I drove to del rio TN then to Hot Springs with out touching the brake pedal. The hardware store in hot springs had the bolt I needed. Really nice guy at the store. Saw an iron pig drive through town right after I fixed my brakes. Also saw a 40th in Asheville

Seems to be going around. Everyone get new caliper bolts and some locktite! I've got 2 spares now...
