Hope It's OK if I post this here? If not let me know and I'll delete it.

Well got out and drove some of these roads today.
Went from Adako to Maple Sally to hwy90/Edgemont to National Forest road (later turns into Roseboro rd) then a right turn onto fs192/Old House Gap road. Then back down Edgemont to Globe road in Cragg. Good Day up in the mountains and nice weather too.

Old House Gap was real rough with rocks and deep washed out ruts and frozen mud holes. I was surprised Old House Gap Rd isn't more well traveled by the stock to light modded group. It's not real long but some good sized rock obstacles and deep washes are fun in a relatively stock vehicle. You can tell it doesn't get traveled much at all. Hardly any tracks on the ground and the trail is covered with leaves and such. Good thing is the trail is marked with white painted dots at all the turn-offs so you don't venture off onto private property (even though there are signs stating such) since only some are gated. Also if you go in from Roseboro Rd it is pretty much all up hill so it makes it more interesting. Just for reference I drive a 96 lx450/Land Cruiser with 2.5" lift and 32" tires, so nothing special and it was a fun time.
Some nice waterfalls on these roads and I saw a bunch of wild turkeys too lol. Check it out sometime if you get the chance its a nice ride.

That's a great loop. We've done that several times and usually stop to mix in some rc crawling or fishing along the way. Nice to have a camp spot at each end of 192 as well as Mortimer not too far away.

Any pics?

I didn't get any pictures since my wife had the camera for family cookie day all the women in the family go to each year. But I'll be going back again soon I'm sure. My wife said she wanted to go next time so I'll task her with pictures since I'm not much of a photographer.

Sorry this is up in the WNC area of Cragg and Old Mortimer, Roseboro, should of been more clear.
I just copy and pasted from NC4x4 and we were talking about these roads prior.

Oh and I live in Bessemer City/Dalls NC area.

I've ridden that trail a few times too. Fished along the way. Nice little drive for sure.

Anybody got a map of this route? I would love to take the kids on a wheeling/fishing trip. Sunday is going to be close to 80 degrees!

I can pm you some general directions and ideas.
Best move is go to Walmart and buy the back roads gazetteer. It's all in there. I've spent many a weekend in that area hunting down loops and its always good exploring around the woods.

The post a few months back with the Subaru clip was the same road. And don't bother going for jeep trail rd. it is gated. There are some great hiking trails and fishing in the area with both primitive and established camp options like Mortimer. Lil general store for some snack. Just check the date lol

Even the gravel roads have some cool camp spots like this one. A shot of 192 where we stopped to fish. And the brown dog relaxin by the fire watching a Marv spectre interview.

Is Mortimer even open? The last I heard was another flood through the valley caused them to close it up again...
