hood lock

I've got a friend I'll be visiting in Haiti in April and he's asked me to come up with a way to lock his hood on his HJ61 as there are many battery thieves down there. Any suggestions?

There's a product called a "Z Lock", probably others with different names, that use a stiff cable to push a pin through an installed loop on the underside of the hood. It operates from the cab and uses a kryptonite lock style key. Car alarm places have 'em. Easy to install yourself. Don't remember what they cost...maybe $100 or so, maybe less w/o the shop install.
