Hi all, I am in need of a idea for a replacement hood latch release system for my BJ-70. I am doing a intercooler and the present hood latch system is in the way and will need to remove it. :frown: I found a plunger type latch system off of a older Saab that I might be able to use in a different place, but the junk yard wants me to buy the hood for $100 since the upper pin is integrated with the hood and they can't sell the hood if they cut a section out, which is understandable. The other idea I have is to use those race car style hood pins that stick out through the hood. I would rather have a clean looking latch system, but these pins are way cheaper than buying a whole hood. I thing 80's series Honda Civics have also a similar type latch as the older Saab's. Any idea's?

Go for the bling bling! The only downside is that it's that much easier for someone to steal stuff from under the hood, or vandalize. Dunno if that's an issue in your area or not...

If you have a secure place for your rig go easy way with pins on the hood. Put a little crome padlock on the pin to prevent robber temtations.

The hood pins would be easier and you could put a small padlock through for security when your parking it.
The hood lach mechanisms I have played with are a pita once they have been modified or damaged.
Getting just the right height in the right spot to catch and stay there is not always easy:mad::D
