skillet, ive always liked the NX650's, back in the day i bought a KLR650 and my buddy got the NX650, if the nx had a large tank i would have bought it instead. actually i wanted a tengai but they were very rare even back then. anyway we traded bikes off and on once in a while and i really liked it. its pretty much an xr650 of the same time and almost all the upgrades for the xr is good for the nx.

if your at all interested, and it sounds like you are, you wont go wrong with it to any other bike of that vintage. heck, it still holds its own to other bikes that havent changed much since that time,, KLR, DR,,,,,

I love my NX its a good bike. Heavy but it moves pretty good. I paid $1200 for mine. I put a knobby on and went to ocotillo wells last new years and had some fun. I was going to get stock stickers for it but they are way expensive so I will probably print my own up.

Yeah I also need new sprockets then I can go faster. It does redline easily but with different sprockets will be much faster

The NX250 would make me a nice winter bike! Stud up some knoobies, and bring on the snow!

Oh... and congrats Hilux!

If you like the safety yellow, you might like one of these.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I've had it a about > 2,000 miles and I LOVE IT.

The bike is rated at 70mpg and I'm getting right at 60. Love the Shell race fuel (93 octane 10% Ethanol) so that's prolly why I'm not getting 70. And, my riding style is "enthusiastic" :D

If you get this bike, expect an 80mph top speed (I might need jets, carb cleaned, PM, etc, etc to go faster. But its at redline) Hard to source and expensive (Fragile, "That must be Italian?") plastics and pieces. An EXTREMELY soft (too soft) suspension. Most get a custom rear shock and change the AT fluid in the front forks to 20 weight. A great handler, stone simple and reliable. Motor has about as nice a low and mid range as a 11:1 compression ratio 250 can get you. The rear 16" tire is said to have limited choices and the overseas version the AX-1 has a rear disc. Something I'd kill to have cause my fab skills on a bike right now are non existent. On the highway, the low wind screen is almost useless but every little bit helps I'm sure. I might have my speedo off, I'll have to check. In a 70 zone by my house, I've got well enough to keep up with traffic, and pass the slower traffic. I can stay in the left lane if I wanted to. That's weird, b/c in a 70 zone, most people are running 80 minimum.

It has a really low 1st gear and the 1st to 2nd throw is wide. And since I don't use the clutch I miss it occasionally. 2,3,4,5 and 6 gear spacings are very close. Good for the clutchless downshifts I do, but I feel bad for the top end and trying to keep the RPMs down. I'm prolly going to get some teeth when I get my next sprocket since I won't be doing as much off-road as I tell myself I want to. Can't speak for the gear box, I'm too new, don't use the clutch and feel its almost dead. As my technique gets better and I replace the clutch I can tell you more, but I'd say its a bit on the clunky side.

I'm @ 5'9 (IDK?) 170 lbs. (I haven't weighed myself in forever and the chick I'm seeing now is 5'11 and she says no way am I 5'7. So excuse the variations in my height/ weight)
