Ten year old Honda mower was starting to have issues idling, surging up and down and sometimes dying when dropping the throttle to idle. I poked around several forums that talked about rebuilds, priced it out locally - $50-60, and then came across one post mentioning just replacing the whole carb since they're super cheap. Sure enough, entire Honda OEM carb from Plano Power was $15. Almost cost more to ship it to me. Took 20 minutes to swap (including forgetting to set the idle screw before mounting it) and mower runs like new now. Anyway, good tip for any of you with an older Honda mower. Supposedly it's the ethanol in gas that's wreaking havoc on the small engine carbs.

Filthy carb pic just because.

smart! I bet the gasket etc rebuild kit alone is close to $15.

I have found this on most outdoor power equipment. When you factor the time involved and not knowing if there are other issues with the body, why buy a kit when a new carb is not that much more money.
Like to see this happen with the Aisan carburetors.:smokin:
