Any thoughts? is that Holley Truck Avenger a good carb? I don't rock crawl, so not too many steep angles, but when I do get tippy, I don't want it stalling. And TBI would be really great, but I'm no wiring nut. Is it as easy as I read about in the tech section?

It's going on a SBC in a Pig.

IMO, there are two options...

$100 for a quadrajunk carb...$20 junkyard purchase, $20 rebuild kit, $60ish to get the baseplate rebushed and eliminate vacuum problems

or, TBI, which will not be $100, but will far outperform any carb options out there, particularly in off-camber situations. "just that easy" will depend largely on your own patience and abilities, but I IMO the effort is very worth it.

DO NOT BUY A TRUCK AVENGER!! I did and it is now a door stop on my front door. They work best on funky angles, but that is about the only place they work. I went with the Q-jet and all the fixings; works great. Next step is TBI, just need to complete some projects on the house first.

I'm running a qjet and it runs great. Just make sure to use a good fuel pump. I have a high pressure holly mech. pump and have never had a problem sitting with the nose end up in the air until I had to replace the pump and used a cheap one to get me by. It would starve for fuel anytime the front end got a few feet up and climb.

Actually, they work best with LOW pressure.. like 1.5 psi... but high flow. try regulating it down, you might be even happier ;)

Thanks for the heads up. I'm looking for a Q-jet now. When I have more money(yea, right) then I may switch to the TBI. I just didn't want it to act like the Carter AFB that the chevy has. It's a great carb for a muscle car, but sucks really bad on any kind of hill or side hill.

did ya do my Carter mods, covered in the tech section?

still not as good as the q-jet, but they do help some....
