Anyone here been up on the trails around big bear the last few weeks? Curious if there is still snow on the trails. I was going to bring a friend out for a virgin run in his trailduster and thought those would be appropriate trails for him, without snow. If there is minimal snow, we will probably run white mountain to holcolmb creek, or the reverse., on sunday.

Don't know but I would imagine so, especially with the rains that are coming through the area.

Guess I'll just have to drive up there and find out. White mountain is only about 30 minutes from my house, dishpan is around 1 hour. It has been warm lately, even at high elevations. The last storms were warm and rained in high elevations. The current storms this week are keeping snow above the 7000' mark.

beginning of holcomb creek trail

On Sunday we went up to run Dishpan Springs and Holcomb creek. Drove up towards deep creek and lo and behold, the road is closed until June 23 for tree removal. Closed about 3 miles north of the old t6 crossing, right at the start of the 2N25. Drove to Holcolmb Creek with the 55, a toyota pickup, a cj5, cj7, and a cherokar, 2 of the jeeps are locked, and 2 of them were doing real wheeling with them for the first time. No snow anywhere below 7000 ft., nice and wet, and then really dusty.

Some guy watched us drive up the first section and asked if we thought his new rubicon could make it, he never four wheeled it before on anything but steep hills. He had his wife and two kids with him and joined us, him and his son had a blast. It was cool to get somone to go out for their first time. His wife was scared though and wouldn't get in on the rocky parts. This was a fun, not too difficult trail I haven't done in a while. The running water helped a bit.
