ron570 said:Can't get my hand in. Assuming I don't disable the relay, what do Canadian's do? They are required to have DRL.
Also, what about the circut near the fuse box (its a small box with 2 circuts), one is Dim, and the other DRL. I'm assuming the Dim is what causes it to run at lesser power. Can both be removed instead of relay behind the light?
FJ Dragon said:Nope. I tried that first. Lights won't work at all. Take your watch off or have your gf/wife disconnect it. Others have done it by using the smaller hand of a loved one![]()
Well, I've never had a truck with DRL until now. The only reason I don't like them is, while wheeling in the bushes, it can be a bit darker. The pics don't turn out as good with the lights on. Otherwise, I kinda like my DRL. I know all vehicles had to have them from the factory since the late 80's/early 90's, but I don't think we would have a problem with disabling them.ron570 said:what do Canadian's do? Maintz said:Just disconnected my DRL, following FJ Dragon's instructions,.... many thanks! I first tried to loosen the capscrew (11mm) holding the connector bracket, but it was way too tight, and there's little room to manipulate a wrench. Finally, after shunning beer until my hands got really skinny, I was able to push in the connector tab and disconnect.
I cut some 1/8" rubber sheet material to make an insulator to fit snugly inside the connector, put the connector back on as far as it would go (about 3/8"), and finished off with duct tape to seal the connector.
Five minute job when you have great instructions!
